Change fabric into a beautiful piece of art! Learn how to paint a flower on silk without using gutta. You will paint a 12"" x 12"" sample pieces and go home with a hand-painted silk scarf. Learn silk painting techniques such as wet on wet watercolor techniques using salt, alcohol, sugar and using magic sizing as a resist. You will go on to paint a 11 x 60-inch silk scarf using a design of your choice. Silk painting produces beautiful results; no previous art background necessary! For experienced artists, this is an exciting new medium to explore which allows creative freedom. Instruction on how to steam set dyes will also be given and a resource material list on types of dyes and where to purchase them.

Wear appropriate clothes, the silk dyes stain. Bring watercolor brushes, a sponge brush, a large water jar and protective gloves. Optional: If you have a palate it will come in handy too. All other supplies will be provided including the silk, silk scarf and dyes etc. Material fee $20 payable to instructor due at the start of class.
