STOP! Before you post another bathroom selfie, ask yourself: Am I making images that matter, images with intent? Am I just snapping selfies when I could be making meaningful self-portraits?

This workshop will empower artists to use the cameras we carry with us always (smartphones) to create self-portraits with visual impact, personal significance, and lasting artistic value. We will discuss the evolution of self-portrait photography from the daguerreotype to Instagram, foundational photographic principles to apply using any camera, and special considerations for smartphone-photography. Students will make self-portraits on-site using their smartphones, and then participate in a collaborative critique to discuss their image-making experiences. Resources for further study also provided.
