This workshop is designed for students who would like to gain a better understanding of methods and techniques to make a watercolor painting that is full of light and atmosphere. In 2 days, we will cover many topics but mainly focus on the fundamentals: understanding of tonal values and colors and basic techniques in paint application and brush handling.
We will paint different subject(s) every day and try different approaches to discover what is effective to create the kind of atmosphere we desire. Reference for each painting will be provided by the instructor that demonstrates the importance of a good design and perspective. We will also discuss how to choose a subject, how to edit and simplify a complex scene, etc. Keiko will do two demonstrations a day. There will be one-on-one guidance and a question-and-answer session on a daily basis. A class critique will be conducted at the end of workshop. All levels - Basic knowledge strongly recommended.
