Come join the digital revolution as we create art using Adobe Photoshop! This exciting medium is the main tool for the digital painter and illustrator, and is currently being used to produce stunning works of fine art, advertising illustrations, book illustrations, and much more. Students will utilize a pressure sensitive drawing tablet to work intuitively, similar to using a real paint brush. The class will cover essential features such as digital sketching, the size of your canvas, the resolution of your image, all of the painting tools (brushes, mixer brush, and smudge tool), personalized brush creation, color theory, layers, undoing mistakes, all leading up to printing techniques for your digital masterpiece! We’ll start with a small still life to create your first painting, and then springboard from there into more advanced pieces. This is an art class so all the rules of art apply, even though our media of choice is pixels instead of paint. Based on interest we can also explore digital pen and ink, watercolor, and acrylic techniques. (Students wishing to save their work should bring a USB flash drive.)
