This class focuses on throwing pouring vessel forms on the wheel. Explore pitchers, teapots, bottles and other types of pouring vessels, finding form and making multi-part vessels into one composite form. Whether you create volume or push it to its extreme limits, clay constantly challenges you to defy gravity. Learn to master that skill in this class. Marry form and surface, or try alternative firing methods to complete the vessels. Class covers an intro to cone 6 glazes in oxidation and reduction environments to create variation. Enhance forms with surface decoration techniques like slip trailing and sgraffito.

Nancy Robbins has a BFA in ceramics from the Rhode Island School of Design. She also studied ceramic engineering and glaze chemistry at Alfred University. She was senior craftsman for ceramic reproductions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Nancy is also one of the founders of the Clay Art Guild of the Hamptons and teaches at the new Clay Art Studios in Water Mill, NY.
