Bringing the Pre-College experience to your own backyard!
Designed for teens (ages 14-18)

Students ages 14 – 18 are invited to join in the “Design Your Summer” programs at the Art League of Long Island where they can fully immerse themselves in the creative process, develop a sense of camaraderie and community with fellow artists, strengthen individual skills, and build their portfolios without the added pressure of grades and transcripts. Each program provides an intensive pre-college studio experience, which allows students to delve deep into their studies and enhance their portfolios; while staying close to home and still having the time to enjoy their summer!

Select from the 3 hands-on summer studio intensives offered:

INTRODUCTION TO ARCHITECTURE:
173-ARCH Architecture and Spatial Design: 3 weeks, Mon-Thurs, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM, July 10 – July 27

Led by an established and practicing Architect, this program serves as an introduction to the field of Architectural Design, while also developing individual hand skills through drafting, model building and other studio exercises. This program is complemented by the following additional hands-on studio experiences:

Observational "3D" Drawing: Render objects /figures in space; creating the illusion of 3-Dimensions on 2-Dimensional surfaces; emphasis on understanding design principles such as scale /proportion, and perspective.

3-D Design: Sculpture: The function of space, volume, mass, and form, as well as design principles such as symmetry and balance, are some of what you will investigate through the solution of 3-dimensional design problems.

Members: $1200. / $1220. Non-Members

INTRODUCTION TO FASHION DESIGN
173-FASH Fashion FUNdamentals: 3 weeks, Mon-Thurs, 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM, July 10 – July 27

This program serves as an introduction to the Fashion Design industry. Study terminology, practices, concept and theme design, while acquiring basic skills for understanding collection development. Learn how to illustrate both realistic and stylized fashion figures, and enhanced fashion poses, as well as garment illustration using various art media. Additional hands-on studio experiences include:

Observational "3D" Drawing: Render objects /figures in space; creating the illusion of 3-Dimensions on 2-Dimensional surfaces; emphasis on understanding design principles such as scale /proportion, and perspective.

Introduction to Garment Sewing: Discover hand sewing essentials, machine basics, pattern selection and construction, fabric types, and much more. Complete a garment from start to finish beginning with pattern tracing and working all the way through to the final stitch and press. Work on accessories to personalize handmade or ready to wear garments utilizing hand-sewing techniques.

Members: $1200. / $1220. Non-Members

PRE-COLLEGE PORTFOLIO DEVELOPMENT
173-PRECO-1 Session 1: 3 weeks, Mon – Fri, 9:30 AM– 2:30 PM, July 10 – July 28
173-PRECO-2 Session 2: 3 weeks, Mon – Fri, 9:30 AM– 2:30 PM, July 31 – August 18
The Art League is offering two 3-week sessions for high school students to fully immerse themselves in the creative process and build their portfolios for college. Experience professional studio practices as you delve into observational and figure drawing, painting, mixed media projects, and more! Both sessions take place on-site at the Art League. Students may register for either one or both sessions. Explore a variety of mediums! Meet new friends and make better art!

Members: $1260. / $1280. Non-Members (per session)
75 Contact hours per session reflected on Certification of Completion.

To register for Design Your Summer pre-college programs: Register online, by phone (631-462-5400), or in person at 107 E. Deer Park Rd., Dix Hills, 11746. Space is limited, so register early.

Pre-registration (extended until May 31st) requires a non-refundable deposit of $100. Tuition balance is due by June 1st.

Beginning June 1st, full tuition is due upon registration.

Families of Half Hollow Hills School District are eligible for the ALLI Member (M) prices.

Withdrawal and refund policy:

Before June 1st: Full refund minus the non-refundable $100 deposit.
Between June 1st and July 3rd: 50% refund minus the $100 deposit.
After July 3rd: No refunds.

2 ways to save:
1. DOUBLE SESSION DISCOUNT: $50 off each session when registering for both Portfolio sessions.

2. REFER A FRIEND: $50 Gift Certificate (issued after friend completes class). Your friend must be first time registrant with ALLI. To request gift certificate, please be sure to include the phrase “Refer A Friend” and the name of your friend in the comments section upon checkout.

Discounts will be reviewed by the Art League of Long Island to ensure rates have been correctly applied. If it is determined that the correct discounts have not been applied, all charges will be adjusted to reflect the applicable rate.
